Levesa’s First Social Market

We chat with Sechaba Mothobi, the guy behind the First Ever Social Market in Levesa

Tell us about yourself?

I was born in welkom and raised in Wesselsbron, I started school at both Katolo and Reitzpark Primary and then attended my high school at Unitas High and matriculated at Monyakeng High.

I then studied Human Resources at Golfields FET Clollege and now I am busy with my BachelorsDegree in Education at Central University of Technology. I am a talkative guy who li kes working with people and making a difference in people’s lives, I like establishing movements within the community and anywhere I am at.

Tell us about your new brand? What inspired it?

Youngest In change is a brand I established in our town to have a local brand that could represent us as small locations’ youth and to put focus on our local fashion so we stop having to give attention only to overseas’ brands while we forget about our local brands.

The main focus is around Levesa and its people, what inspired me to have this new brand is that, there are a few brands here in Levesa so we bring whatever that is happening in jorburg or Durban to our small town so that we could localize it.

Heard that there is a flea market, what is it about?

The flea market is all about improving the skills and talents of the youth in Monyakeng to come and showcase their art, fashion, clothes and their local brands to the community. My aim is to make sure that our money to circulate around the community of Monyakeng so to improve our economy as a small location.

What do you wish to get out of this event?

All I wish for this event is that we as community have to support local things such as art, fashion and local brands, then my last wish for those people who have made reasonable profit to give back to the community.

What kind of marketing do you use to market your event and brand?

So far I am using Facebook for marketing the event and instagram, as for brand m using facebook @Sechaba Mothobi, our Facebook page is Youngest in Change

How is the support so far?

There is ample support, just that people need to see your products, they don’t really want facebook or any kind of social media, that is why I went for social market for all those who wanna see the brand they will come and support us.

Is this event only for levesa or for all the nearby towns too?

The event was planned for levesa people at first, but now all of the Lejeleputswa is longing for it, there is a lot of designers and art local brands which are invited. Most small towns are not involved in such social markets, we decided to give small towns the opportunity to promote their products on the other sides of their small towns.

What would you like to say to the ones that are left out?

They are going to miss out a lot. It is going to be a 100% local event, from clothes to music, poetry and designs. This is going to be a great opportunity for people who are doing lovely things that most of the people in the community know nothing about, in an actual fact it is going to be the great exposure to those talented people that are unknown to the community.

I say to the talented youth that is doing good deeds and things comes to those who make things happen. We have to learn how to come up with our own things, that’s the only way we can fight poverty, we need to create employment, is time we stand up for our community and make it a
